A short article, but a nice piece on the outcome of the whole saga with Conan. Like Conan says in the quote below, he has actually come out pretty well post NBC, with his tour and his new show coming this fall.

But that wasn’t that. Conan’s crash was prolonged and arduous, but his rebirth was immediate and effortless. And therein lay the (sorry) triumph. Within a month, O’Brien went from Biggest Loser to the world’s most celebrated comedy folk hero. “Three months ago, what would’ve looked to everybody like bad luck has become amazingly good luck,” O’Brien told an adoring assemblage at Google.

Ever since I think elementary school I have always enjoyed “Weird Al” so hopefully it will work out so that the film comes to pass.  Even though I have not seen the cult classic UHF from the 80’s, which I should.  “Weird Al” Yankovic May Deliver Another Feature Film | /Film.

Syfy round up: Why we’re glad Warehouse 13 is Syfy’s biggest hit. While it has spoilers to the season premiere from Tuesday, does a good job of explaining what makes the show enjoyable.

Advance Review: EUREKA season 4, episode 1 “Founder’s Day” | SERIES.NU.  A good review of the the Eureka season premiere this Friday, with very few spoilers.

Emmys 2010: ‘Glee, ‘Mad Men’ lead the nominations |  Great to see Jim Parsons aka Sheldon from Big Bang Theory get another nod, does great work on the show, just a shame the show itself did not get a best comedy nod.

Adam’s Op Ed: Toystory 3, and men who cry.

Man cries at Toystory 3, and doesn’t think that’s wierd.

First of all, it’s obvious that you’re trying to prove to someone specific that it’s okay for men to cry… otherwise you wouldn’t feel the need to make a public post about it… Second, your (essentially) entire point of relating to the toys having to give Andy up (he’s growing up), and that relates to you being a dad, is flawed. Yes, it’s literally what’s happening and the overall plot of the movie… But that was covered within the first 30 seconds of the film. Why wait until the end credits to start weeping? Why not the whole length of the movie? No, the real reason I believe you’re upset is exactly what your daughter said to you.

“It’s sad because Andy had to give up his toys, right?”

Yep. That feeling of having to give up something that you love is a HUGE emotional moment of the film, and guess what? It happens like 2 minutes before the end credits roll. So, pair that with a great musical score, dramatic lighting and (sometimes) a cool pair of 3D glasses, and you’re balling your eyes out. Oh, and by the way, your friends ARE making fun of you because it IS kind of girlie for a man to cry at a movie theater.

That’s just the way I see it.

Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows trailer

Warner Brothers released a new trailer for Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows part 1 & 2.  From the looks of it the last two movies in the Potter saga should be good or at the very least have some good action set pieces.

I enjoyed book 7 the best, so excited for these two movies the most compared to the other ones.  One aspect that make me like the Deathly Hallows more is that J.K. Rowling really kept the story focused and did not have b and c plot lines that were present in the other books.  She also did a good job of wrapping up for the most part all the questions that she had brought up over the series.

It will be interesting to see how they translate the book into these two movies.  Hopefully they will not have to leave much out of the book since they split it into two parts.  The other big question about the movies is were will they split the book for part 1 of the movie and part 2.

Part 1 comes out November 19th 2010, and Part 2 will be released on July 15th, 2011.

I have included the trailer below, but to view the trailer in HD click one of these links.  YouTube – Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Official HD Trailer. & Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Movie Trailers – iTunes.

I am happy at this news, since NPH played great parts in the first films in the series. Like the news story says will be curious to see how they bring NPH back for the third film, after what happened to him in the second one.

Neil Patrick Harris Confirmed to Return for A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas | /Film.

Major League is one of my favorite sports movies along with Tin Cup and Caddyshack, so if they can get a good script and a lot of the actors back like they are talking about I would be excited to see another Major League.

[Major league writer David S. Ward] “We’re actually talking about doing one right now. I’ve written, what I see, as Major League 3. We’re putting that together as we speak – in fact, next week I’m off to talk to James Robinson at Morgan Creek about it.

“It’s 20 years later, and Wild Thing comes out of retirement to work with this 19-year-old player”, Ward says of the storyline. “We’ve actually got three new characters in the new film. And if the new film is popular, they could carry the franchise on”.

I am interested in seeing this great show return, since while I did not watch it every week when it was first on, when I did watch it, the show was very funny and while a bit weird the show has the kind of humor that I enjoyed.

Toy Story 3 & Pixar

I figured posting this Wired article about Toy Story 3 was appropriate given that today Toy Story 3 comes out in movie theaters.  I everything thing I have heard sounds like Toy Story 3 is another great Pixar movie.  It is amazing how successful pixar is and how much influence they have had on animated movies.  I say that because Toy Story being the first computer generated feature film if I recall correctly.  I have not watched it recently but the last time I did, it had held up over the years since it’s release in 1995.  Now it is 15 years later and movies like that are old hat and computer generated movies are getting even more complex like Avatar and the upcoming Tin Tin movies.  So it will be great to see the new Toy Story movie some time this weekend or maybe next week some time.

Pixar’s secret? Its unusual creative process. Most of the time, a studio assembles a cast of freelance professionals to work on a single project and cuts them loose when the picture is done. At Pixar, a staff of writers, directors, animators, and technicians move from project to project. As a result, the studio has built a team of moviemakers who know and trust one another in ways unimaginable on most sets.

I agree with Agent Vaughn AKA Michael Vartan, rather see original cast back.  Because it is way too soon to be rebooting a show that just ended a few years ago.

“I heard rumors of it, and to be honest with you, I find it absolutely preposterous,” Vartan said in a conference call on June 7, while he was promoting the medical drama Hawthorne. “I’m still young enough to run down a hallway, and so is Jennifer [Garner]. What is this nonsense of recasting Alias? Give us 20 years at least. How dare they?”

He’s being sarcastic there, and he says it with a laugh, but there is a kernel of truth to Vartan’s rant. Wouldn’t getting Vartan and Garner back for some butt-kicking adventures be better than starting over?

Even though a few days old, I still glad to hear that the BBC series Torchwood will get a fourth season.  Quite enjoyed the shorter season three more mini series style Children of Earth.

When the cult series “Torchwood” finally returns in the summer of 2011, the sci-fi drama will have a new American home and a more international flavor. “’Torchwood’ has to date been located primarily in Cardiff, Wales,” Starz’s Monday release said. “The new series will allow Davies and his writing team to tell a more explosive and global story, one that takes advantage of the unlimited narrative opportunities of a premium television service like Starz.”

When I finally saw the first film, I surprislingly enjoyed it, since was not quite sure what really to expect from it.

Nesson said that he’s meeting with Besson later this month to talk about the sequel. The big hurdle right now, according to the actor? It will be “hard to get a plot that will be believable.”
